Welcome to Germany
Under the current instructions of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI) Germany is open for foreigners entering the country from:
• EU member states
• States associated with Schengen: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein
• Other countries from which entry is possible in light of the epidemiological situation assessment by the EU
Foreigners entering Germany from any other country is only possible if you are fully vaccinated. The vaccine that you have received must be on the list of the Paul Ehrlich Institute and the last dose must have been received at least 14 days before the date of travel.
Mandatory testing or proof of immunity from COVID-19
Generally, every person over the age of 12 must have a
1. Proof of vaccination OR
2. Negative test result OR
3. Proof of recovery
For each of the three COVID-certificates specific requirements hold which are explained below.
Requirements for your COVID-certificate
1. Proof of vaccination
• Language: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish
• Digital or in paper form (e.g. EU Digital COVID Certificate, WHO vaccination booklet; a photo of a proof is not sufficient)
• Type of vaccination dose must be approved by the EU with at least 2 doses
2. Negative test result
• Language: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish
• Tests using nucleid acid amplification technology (e.g. PCR, PoC-PCR) or rapid-antigen tests must have been carried
out no more than 48 hours prior to entry

3. Proof of recovery
• Must be a positive PCR test result carried out at least 28 days but no more than 90 days previously
